A day dedicated to skin diagnosis, bioscience, and the customization of protocols in aesthetic medicine
In aesthetic medicine, the quality of a treatment does not start with the choice of a product or technology.
It starts well before: with the analysis of the skin.
The first day of the SKIN LAB II – Bootcamp Summer 2026, organized by ISTYA Aesthetic, was entirely devoted to this fundamental step: learning to observe, analyze, and understand the skin in order to build a truly personalized care.
Led by Dr. Yosra Hadj Mabrouk, this first day combined theoretical teaching, clinical reasoning, and practical application on simulators, with a central idea:
A better diagnosis is the starting point for a better treatment.
Beyond protocols: learning to understand the skin
One of the major challenges of modern aesthetic medicine is to move away from a standardized approach.
The same apparent indication can correspond to very different skin issues.
Irregular texture, dehydration, loss of radiance, alteration of skin quality, or signs of aging: each skin has its own characteristics and requires specific analysis.
The first day of the Skin Lab thus placed the skin diagnosis at the heart of therapeutic reasoning.
The goal was not simply to know different treatments, but to understand why, when, and for which skin they can be considered.
Understanding the skin before treating
To build a relevant protocol, the practitioner must be able to analyze different parameters of the skin and relate them to the patient's needs.
This approach allows for a shift from a standardized treatment logic to a logic of personalized aesthetic medicine.
The analysis thus becomes the starting point of a broader reflection:
Observation → Diagnosis → Therapeutic choice → Protocol personalization → Evaluation of results
This process constitutes one of the foundations of an aesthetic practice based on clinical reasoning.

Bioscience, technologies, and clinical practice
The day also allowed for discussion on the relationship between bioscience, technologies, and aesthetic medicine.
Advances in analysis technologies and treatments dedicated to skin quality now offer practitioners an increasingly wide range of possibilities.
But technology does not replace diagnosis.
It must be integrated into a coherent clinical reflection and respond to an identified need in the patient.
It is this combination between scientific knowledge, skin analysis and mastery of tools that allows for the construction of more precise and individualized protocols.
From theory to practice: working on simulators
Learning was not limited to theoretical presentations.
Participants were also able to apply their knowledge through practical workshops on simulators.
This step allows for the transformation of studied concepts into concrete skills in a controlled environment.
Simulation particularly provides a space for professionals to:
- apply their reasoning,
- develop their precision,
- better understand the different treatment areas,
- repeat certain actions in a secure environment,
- link theory and clinical practice.
This progression, from knowledge to application, represents an essential element of ISTYA Aesthetic's pedagogical approach.
Advanced
capabilities
A personalized-centered approach
One of the key messages of this first day can be summarized simply:
There is no universal protocol for all skin types.
Personalization requires taking into account the specific characteristics of each patient and selecting therapeutic approaches based on the established diagnosis.
The ultimate goal remains the same: to achieve natural, consistent, and tailored results to individual needs.
A first step before injection
This first day also prepared the participants for the following days of the Bootcamp.
Before mastering an injection technique or a technology, the practitioner must be able to understand the tissue they are working on.
It is this logic that connects the entire journey:
Understand the skin → Analyze → Decide → Treat → Evaluate
Skin Lab II : une approche fondée sur le diagnostic
À travers cette première journée, le SKIN LAB II – Bootcamp Summer 2026 a proposé une approche qui dépasse l'apprentissage de protocoles isolés.
The goal is to develop in healthcare professionals a true clinical reasoning applied to skin quality..
Because in aesthetic medicine, the most advanced technology cannot replace a good analysis.
And because a relevant treatment always starts with an essential question:
What does this skin really need?
